At the MWC, the demonstration of the new Start menu showed an interface in the form of "Honeycomb" (the famous HoneyComb).
Unfortunately, the look of this interface is highly criticized. During the recent MIX09, Microsoft then demonstrated a re-designed Start menu (very slightly): no hexagons, the icons are enlarged, but remain entangled in a provision.
The change is subtle, but visually pleasing. It allows most certainly improve the display performance of the list.
Other minor change, finger scrolling in start menu is simplified. Indeed, in previous versions, a shot was finger scroll the page so "Kinetic" is to tell how an iPhone: the page scrolls, and gradually slowed to a stop. The new version about when it stops scrolling down the "page" (the display) is reached, allowing a scrolling page to page more intelligent.
